It is the system of certification of indigenous ancestral production for conservation, a mechanism designed for the differentiation of indigenous production in national and international markets, based on the recognition of its ancestral values, as well as, traditional practices associated with their productive processes.
The project ‘Know the Origin’ seeks to promote and highlight indigenous culture from a perspective of biodiversity conservation and protection, supporting producer communities in diversifying their income beyond their seasonal periods of harvesting products such as coffee, cocoa, and panela cane. Considering ethnic, agroecological, photography, and bird-watching tourism as productive activities compatible with the sustainable use of natural resources, this initiative contributes to building sustainable business models for indigenous communities in Colombia.
